Auto fill 'due date' with today's date upon issue creation

Hi,

I am looking for the cleanest way to auto fill the 'due date' field when a new issue is created using today's date {{now}}.   I have used workflow - post function to populate fields in the past but for some reason the 'due date' field is not showing as a custom field and is not selectable from the simple field view.  I have included shots of both screens.  What is different about 'due date'?

I am not going to buy script runner or another APP to solve this menial task.  If I can't use workflow post function, is automation the only other method?

Appreciate ideas.

Here are the two screens shots of workflow - post function.  Both methods of custom or not don't provide due date as an available option.  Would prefer to use post function rather than automation.

You can create an automation rule.

Not seeing any of the screenshots, but yes, the automation should work.

Yep, you will either need to use automation or an add-on like JMWE.
