Auto-deselect team member when switching to a different team member in sprint board

Sasi Kutti June 22, 2020

During daily standup, when switching from on team member to another in the sprint board, I'm having to first deselect the first team member and then select the next one. How can set it so that selecting the second team member would automatically deselect the first one? I am on a Mac. I tried Command+Click, Ctrl+Click, Alt+Click & Shift+Click. None of them does the trick. It is quite annoying that selecting one team member doesn't auto-deselect the previous one or at least have an easy keyboard override to modify that behavior.

Hi Sasi - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I assume you are talking about the Quick Filters for Assignee. The concept is that you might want to see cards that are assigned for Person 1 or Person 2 at the same time. You would not be able to do that if every time you clicked on Person 2 then Person 1 was unselected.

It might be an extra step to deselect a person, but you get more functionality that way.

During daily standups, we usually just need to go from one person to the next. I have not come across the need to see the stories/tasks assigned to two members at the same time yet and I've running daily standup for more than a decade. It would be so convenient to let the default click behavior be to auto-deselect the first person when a different person is selected and modify that behavior when shift button is pressed while clicking e.g. selection of files in Finder app in Mac or File Explorer in Windows works this way and is pretty standard. I wish Jira developers would look into this.

In my case selecting 2 assignees (Person 1 or Person 2 a) brings up no one's issues and appears to be using "AND" not "OR".  Please explain if this issue has been resolved or is a setting that can be changed.  Thank you!

@Mario DElia  - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

If you are clicking on their avatar, it should be an OR. What type of board/project is it?

@Sasi Kutti  - did this get your question answered?

I see the same behavior as Mario. When I select 2 people (via Quick filter) in the scrum board, no issues are getting displayed. If the behavior is supposed to be OR, both people's issues should get displayed.

It should be OR I would think. It is on other types of boards. You can report it as a bug and see what Atlassian says.

Or you can also create a Quick Filter that includes both users for a short term work around.
