Atlassian Jira Service fails to start after disk replacement and client restore from Windows Server

thomasntaiskn May 29, 2020

Dear sir/madam,

I had a disk problem on the PC I had installed the Jira Server Software and I had to replace the disk and restore the operating system from my latest backup from my Windows Server (2016 Standard  essentials service).

The service fails to start  saying "Windows could not start the Atlassian Jira on Local Computer. Fro more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 1."

In Event viewer I can see there is an error: "The Atlassian Jira service terminated with the following service-specific error:
Incorrect function."

Please advice! Thank you!

@thomasntaiskn

Have you been able to see the logs? Most of the time it will give you an error in the logs to see whats wrong. Please see this guide to see the logs location: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/important-directories-and-files-938847744.html

Once you find error message, please post it here.

There is no directory C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_202 but C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_251. How do I change this in Jira configuration?

BR, Thomas.
