Associate multiple field configurations to one project?

Hi,
I would like to set a field configuration per issue type on my board. I have two issue types and I want to dictate required fields differently for each issue type. I can't seem to figure out whether I can associate the second field configuration to just the issue type?

Yes, you can set a field configuration for each issue type, just go to Project settings > Fields and click on Actions > Edit fields.
This will take you to the field configuration scheme and from here you can associate an issue type with a field configuration.

This solution did not work for me. I'm using Jira Cloud. When I click Edit fields, I see this:
