Assigning a team as a resource

Can we assign teams as resources to tasks in JIRA Software?

Are you using Advanced Roadmaps? It is included by defautl in Jira Software premium and does allow you to assing items to Teams.
The idea is to assing items to teams in an early stage and assign to an individual users later on. See Assigning work to teams.

If you want it in Jira without Advanced Roadmaps or any plugin like BigPicture then you can't.
Jira tasks/ issues can only be assigned to a single person.
You can get creative and create your own custom field to assign items to a team. But all reports, views, filters, etc. where Jira uses the assingnee will still use the system field and not your own.
