Assigning Sprint to issue does not move the Jira to the actual Sprint (ranking issue?)

Problem description:

1. Open a jira issue
2. Select the Sprint field and select a sprint from the dropdown

Expected behavior:

• The issue should have moved to the assigned sprint

Actual behavior:

• When looking at the "backlog" view, the issue is still in the backlog
• When opening the issue, the Sprint is correctly shown
• In the backlog view, if I "drag and drop" the issue to the sprint, then it's correctly moved (in the history it says then, that the jira way "ranked higher"

Question:

Is this a bug or a configuration issue?

Hi @Sandro Pelaez 
Have you checked the board configuration in case this is causing an issue? May be worth checking if the issue is in a status that is under 'backlog' in the board config?

thanks @aly_briscoe for the quick reply. Checked the column config and seems to be fine. Also when changing the status of a story that is assigned to the sprint but showing still in the backlog, it doesn't rank it up to the assigned sprint.
