Is there a setting I need to activate to allow me to clean up and delete user reated tasks that are no longer valid?

Hi @Chris White,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Check your permission scheme for the project, by default project admins have permission to delete issues. Go to Project settings > Permissions and look for Delete Issues.

Hello @Chris White

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

The ability to delete issues is a Project level permission. As the project admin you should be able to view the Permissions Scheme for the project by going to Project Settings > Permissions. Check if you belong to a group/role that has been granted that permission.

Example:

Only Jira Administrators can change the configuration of a Permission Scheme or change which Permission Scheme is associated with a specific Company Managed project.

If you used to have the permission and now no longer have it, your group/role membership may have changed or a Jira Administrator may have changed the permission scheme.
