Are there any reports using Time tracking?

Phillip_Dang January 25, 2024

My team currently uses the time tracking field to log time. When I access the "Reports" in the left navigation, I cant see, to find any reports that provide me the information I need:

  1. a report that provides the total time logged for each issue of a sprint
  2. a report that provides the total time logged for each user of a sprint

If #1 can be broken down further by user and/or #2 can be broken down further by issue that would be even better.

These seem to be reasonable reports but can't find them. Is there a report that provides this information?

Thank you!!

Phil

Hi @Phillip_Dang

In JIRA, the availability of specific reports, especially those related to time tracking, often depends on the version of JIRA you are using (JIRA Cloud, JIRA Server, etc.) and any additional plugins or integrations that might be installed. However, I can provide some general guidance on how you might find or create the reports you're looking for:

  1. Total Time Logged for Each Issue of a Sprint:

    • Built-in Reports: JIRA's built-in reports, like the Sprint Report or the Burndown Chart, often focus more on issue status and sprint progress rather than detailed time tracking. They might not provide the exact data you're looking for.
    • Issue Search & Export: You can use JIRA's issue search feature to filter issues by sprint and then use the "Time Tracking" field to see time logged. This list can often be exported to a spreadsheet for further analysis.
    • Dashboard Gadgets: JIRA dashboards can be customized with various gadgets that might meet your needs. The "Workload Pie Chart" gadget, for example, can show time tracking information, though it may require some customization.
  2. Total Time Logged for Each User of a Sprint:

    • Time Tracking Reports: Some time tracking reports in JIRA show information by user, but they may not be sprint-specific. You'd need to filter or export data for additional manipulation.
    • Third-Party Plugins: There are numerous plugins available for JIRA that extend its reporting capabilities, including detailed time tracking reports. Plugins like Planyway, for example, offer extensive reporting features that might meet your needs.Снимок экрана 2024-01-25 110536.jpg

Hi @Phillip_Dang ,

Unfortunately your requirements are not covered by the of the box solution. That is why many third party providers have build apps to do that. As we did:

With our addon - Timescale, you select a team and then data range that fits your sprint, start and end date.

Hi @Phillip_Dang

Jira's native reporting features do not offer out-of-the-box reports that meet your specific requirements for sprint-related time-tracking analysis. However, our add-on - ActivityTimeline - is designed to fill in these gaps and provide the detailed insights you're looking for.

With our solution, you can easily access:

1) A report that provides the total time logged for each user of a sprint:

2) A report that provides the total time logged for each issue of a sprint:

If you have any questions or need clarification on using ActivityTimeline, I'm here to help.

Hi @Phillip_Dang

Not sure if this can be achieved with native reports. If you are open to try out an app to get this information, you can try out.

Worklogs Time Tracking & Timesheets

The app allows to filter/Categorize/Group By your worklogs data and create a dashboard gadget too.
