Are done issues supposed to stay in the backlog

On my Jira board I have a backlog in process, once I complete a sprint the done issues (the ones in the very last column) are removed from my next sprint, which is normal. My question is will all issues related to the project forever stay in the backlog, including the completed ones?

If you're 'done' is setup correctly, it is the last Last column AND the resolution is set they should not appear in the backlog.
