App-specific Password for JIRA in Gsuite

Deleted user July 29, 2019

I am trying to configure a custom email for the JIRA Service Desk.

But it is asking me for an app-specific-password and and do not see on Gsuite where and how I can do it. On regular gmail account is easy but apparently no so much on Gsuite.

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ricardo,

If I understand your concern here, you are trying to use a google suites email address with Jira, but are unable to do so.   You appear to indicate that this is possible with a standard gmail address, but might not be the same for other gsuite domains.

I am curious to see if we can learn more about your gsuite here.  The app-password is a specific password apps like Jira could use to utilize this email account when 2 step verification is enabled on that account.   Are you the administrator of this gsuite instance?  I just ask because it might not be required to use an 'app password' if the 2-step-verification settings are not enabled on the account.

Although if you're not an admin on the gsuite instance, you might not be able to control whether or not this account can turn off this 2 step setting.  Have you tried going directly to https://myaccount.google.com/security when you sign in with this account?  I am just interested to see if you can view/edit your 2-step Verification setting here.

If you can't control this, you might want to reach out to your gsuite administrator to see if perhaps they have more control here in this matter.

Andy
