Allow create user story with optional connection to epic based on field

Hi,
I have created a new field under user story with 2 options: "Technical" or "business".
Currently, each user story must be connected to an Epic.
My question is how can I allow user story link to Epic to be optional when selecting "Technical", and remain mandatory when selecting "business"?

Hi Igal - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You would have to create different issue types to be able to do that. Then create a different field configuration for each issue type. You will not be able to do what you want to do using a field value on create. 

You could make it so that the Epic field is not required on create, but is required to transitions the issue to the second status by using a Validator on the transition from the first status.
