Hi!

I have an issue that I discovered today. I think it started today, but I am not sure. This morning, I migrated a confluence space from an old confluence server installation that was running unter company1 to our new confluence cloud instance that is running under company2. Later that day I discovered, that all our atlassian users of the cloud instance are now labeled as external users. Their email addresses are all *@company2.com. I checked in the administrator settings and wehave no verified company domain.

So my question here is, if that got messed up throguh the import, through something else I did, or if it might be like that for a while or forever. How does that impact me, when the domain is not verified?

Thanks for any help

Philipp

Hi @Philipp Loew

This is as expected, if you have not verified a domain, all users are listed as external.

Hi @Philipp Loew

I'm afraid this is known and expected Atlassian Cloud behavior.

The Confluence space import is not the cause.

Users are marked "External" because your company domain (@company2.com) is not verified.

You can easily fix this by verifying domain @Icompany2.com which will mark all matching users as internal and removes the "External" labeling.

It is also recommended to claim these accounts to prevent unmanaged Atlassian accounts and centralize the identity ownership.

Thank you very much for your response. I will take care of the domain verification, IT should be able to do this easily. I am just surprised that I never noticed the "EXTERNAL USER" references in the user settings. Anyway, when the domain is verified, the issue should be resolved.
