Hello,

Receintly i moved a Story (JIRA-1234) to an Epic. The story had around 53 Tasks under it. After i moved this to an Epic, when i do a query like

parent in ('JIRA-1234') it is not giving me any result.

Hi Moshe,

It's all in the order of things:

  • To avoid orphaning your 53 sub-tasks, move them in bulk and change their issue type to task.
  • Then move story Jira-1234 and change the issue type to epic.
  • Then move the 53 tasks to your epic by filling the epic link field of these issues

If you're afraid of loosing the 53 issues within the rest of your issues in the same project, label them first and use the label value to re-find them in the last bulk move action

Hi Moshe - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Stories cannot have Tasks under them. Do you mean Sub-tasks?

You will need to query for the Sub-tasks if so, then do a Bulk change to move them to Stories. Then you can update the Parent field to your new Epic.
