After the Update to version 8.9.1 the loading performance of the pages is very bad.

The loading after login took up to 5 Minutes til the dashboard appears.

Hi Pierre,

Sorry to hear about this problem.  I understand that you have upgraded Jira server to 8.9.1, but that the page load times seem to be very slow.  There are a few things that Jira will frequently have to do immediately after an upgrade, such as reindexing issues, this might account for a temporary performance impairment.

Is this still a problem with the Jira site?  Or was it just temporary?  I would be interested to try to learn more about your environment, such as:

  • specifications of the server running Jira, such as total system memory, cpu speed, number of cpu cores
  • I'd also be interested to know how much memory you have allocated to Jira's JVM.  This is the -Xmx parameter value Jira gets when it starts up.  More info in Increasing Jira memory.
  • Are there other performance problems with Jira, or does this seems to be limited specifically to the dashboard itself?

We have a rather broad troubleshooting guide for Jira server over in Troubleshoot performance issues in Jira server.  If we can learn more, we can likely use the information there to try to narrow the focus here so that we can better understand the source of the problem here.

Andy
