When creating a new Issue Type to add to my Hierarchy upon clicking the Save button I receive a message:
"Moving or changing hierarchy levels of issue types will break existing parent links in all company-managed projects in your site. This change can't be reversed."
If I continue to save, will this impact All parent inks across the organization or only the parent links within Advanced Roadmaps?
What other options does anyone have? I need to create a Folder or Initiative Icon for our plan.
Thx,
Hello @Catherine Schwartz
Welcome to the Atlassian community!
Can you provide more information about how you are changing the hierarchy?
Are you trying to insert a new issue type into the middle of the hierarchy, between existing levels?
Are you trying to add the new issue type as another level at the top of the hierarchy?
Are you trying to add the new issue type to an existing hierarchy level?
Hi @Trudy Claspill !
Thanks for responding! I'm trying to add the issue type Program to an existing hierarchy and would like it at the top. There is a level with Business Release as an issue, but I don't need it. Is it possible to remove that issue type without impacting issue types globally?
I'm also having trouble with Parent Links. It's pulling up projects that aren't mine and won't accept my correction.
Thanks so much!
Cat

If you remove any issue type fom the hierarchy you will break parent/child links between that issue type and the issue types that are directly beneath and above it in the hierarchy. And if those issues are in the hierarchy between other levels, then that disrupts the connections between those lower and higher levels.
The same is true if you change the hierarchy level at which an issue type currently resides.
I believe you can add a new issue type to the top of the hierarchy without a negative impact, but I'm not 100% positive.
This applies globally in all projects that have used the parent/child hierarchy links that are recognized by Advanced Roadmaps.
