Advanced Roadmaps drag-and-drop not working in one Jira Data Center 11.3.1 environment, but working

Hi everyone,

I am facing an issue with drag-and-drop in Advanced Roadmaps on Jira Data Center 11.3.1.

I have two separate Jira Data Center environments, both running version 11.3.1. In one environment, drag-and-drop works normally in the plan view. In the other, it does not work at all.

The problem is not specific to one hierarchy level. In the affected environment, drag-and-drop seems to be completely non-functional within Advanced Roadmaps plans.

What I have already verified:

  • both environments are on the same Jira DC version: 11.3.1
  • I performed a full reindex in the affected environment
  • the reindex did not solve the issue

Since the feature works normally in the other environment, I suspect there may be some environment-specific difference, such as permissions, plan configuration, issue sources, or another setting affecting plan interactions.

Has anyone seen this behavior before in Jira Data Center 11.3.1?
What would you recommend checking next?

Thanks.

Hi @Marcelo Viana de Siqueira,

I could think of the following 2 reasons for the missing drag & drop:

  • If your Global Rank Field is missing or not set up properly in the affected environment, it might impact this. Additionally, make sure the board(s) used as a source for your Plan have ranking enabled. If a board's filter lacks an 'ORDER BY Rank ASC' clause, the drag-and-drop feature in the Plan could be disabled.
  • Make sure you have Schedule Issues and Edit Issues permissions for all projects in the Plan. Also, review the Plan Permissions in the Plan settings to confirm your user or group has "Editor" access.

I hope this helps. Cheers Martin

Thanks, @Martin Runge .

Both of those look OK in my environment.

  • The Global Rank field is present and properly configured, and the board sources used by the Plan have ranking enabled. The related filters also include ORDER BY Rank ASC.
  • On the permissions side, I also have Schedule Issues and Edit Issues for all projects in the Plan, and my Plan access is set as Editor.

I also found the root cause on my side.

In the roadmap, the Sort by option was set to Due date. After changing it to Rank (default), drag-and-drop started working again.

So, in this case, drag-and-drop does not seem to work when the plan is sorted by other Sort by options. It only worked for me when set back to Rank (default).

Thanks again for the suggestions.
