Adding column in active sprint view makes closed stories appear in backlog view

Oleg Appassov April 24, 2018

To help visualize what's happening:

  1. I'm in my active sprint view where I see 3 columns
  2. First status is "Open", next is "In Progress" and third is "Done | Closed Won't do"
  3. Recently a lot of folks have been placing stories in the wrong "Closed Won't do" flow when they actually meant to put it in "Done"
  4. I decided I'll create a new column and that will be all
  5. But when I created the new column called "Closed Won't Do" and went back into the "Backlog" view I started seeing closed stories appear in my backlog

Can someone help?

came across this old post so expect you already solved this but just in case...

Closing a sprint only removes those items in the far right column. Since you moved (seemingly) the "Closed won't do" from the right column to the left then they will not be considered complete when closing the sprint resulting in them showing in backlog.
