Adding Custom Fields to a Service Request

Jose Alvarez May 13, 2022

Hello,

I am new to Jira and working on setting up a service request workflow for one of our teams. I nee to add about six additional data fields as part of the initial service request.

I am able to get to the "request type" part then "edit fields" "add a field" and that's where I hit a stop.  The list is limited to fields a previous admin added. I would like to add additional fields to the "Add a Field" list.

Thank you very much for the step by step instructions but I am not seeing the drag option or "make existing fields available" option. I may not have the right admin rights to perform this work. Let me check with my admin and try your steps once I confirm.

Thank you,

Jose

Hi Jose - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Make sure the new fields have a Context that includes the project you are working on.

Then also make sure the fields are on the screens used by the project.

Then refresh and come back into the Request Types area and they should be there.

Sure!

Go to Project Settings > Request Types

Click on the desired Request Type

Drag the fields from the right hand side to the form

If you don't see the field, click on the Make Existing Fields Available link on the bottom right.

This will take you to the screen to add the fields

Add any fields if needed, and then go back to the Form.

Then drag the field from the right side to the Form.

That should be it!
