Hello there,
In my project we create issues (of story type) that are macro goals and we add child issues to these stories (of type subtask).
We would like to see in the story point field of the parent the addition of all the story points of the child subtasks.
How could I do?
Thanks in advance

You will need an automation or script to do this.
But think carefully about your usage of sprints - you're not doing Scrum if you put estimates on sub-tasks, and Jira Software is a Scrum tool. Simply adding up story points from sub-tasks breaks it. It will work ok, but you won't be able to use velocity or other sprint reports, or have issues move sprint to sprint as you expect.
Hello Nic,
Thanks for your insightful feedback. From what I read indeed it's not recommended to estimate story points on subtasks. However I found it to be usefull in my case.
As a matter of fact each story accounts for around 100 points which is roughly 10 days of work. Hence I won't be able to see any progress in the burndown chart for 10 days which is a bit frustrating. I will only have big jumps in the chart.
Do you have a recommendation of a better practice?
