Hi,

For reporting purposes, my company logs time for projects against the corresponding financial project number.

For example the Machine update 45' project has a project number of 'P1234'

I'd like that project number to show up in the Tempo Logged Time report - to be given to finance each month.

I could go through the process of adding a custom field to the issues, and add the number manually to every issue, then pull that through. But there must be an easier way to do it?

Or if there isn't, how can I at least automate this process so I'm not completing the same field hundreds or thousands of times?

Thanks!

Hi @Alan Kernohan , welcome to the Atlassian Community!

A simple way could be could be to add the project number to the Summary field of the issue that you're logging time against, and then this could be filtered in the CSV export. This can easily be automated, where in an automation rule, upon the creation of one of these issues, you would edit the Summary field in an automation rule to look something like

[project number] - {{summary}}.

There is also an option in the Tempo settings under Configuration > Custom Fields to add a custom field to the raw data export for the Logged Time report, so if this field does already exist on your issues then you can include this within the export

I hope I have understood your requirement correctly - hope this helps!

Hi @Alan Kernohan

Are you using Accounts in Tempo?
If not, you might want to take a look at that functionality, see https://help.tempo.io/timesheets/latest/organizing-data-using-tempo-accounts

In your case, you could use the project number 'P1234' as Account name. Link this Account to your project 'Machine update 45'. You can then set this Account on every issue in the project (Account field needs to be added to then issue view).

When a user then logs work on an issue in Tempo, this Account information can be included in the Tempo Report and be exported.

Best regards,
Susanne
