Add links to Jira Release Versions?

We've had to create confluence pages for releases that provide more information about them (e.g. milestones for significant dates before release time, links to filters and go/no-go decision pages, etc.). I can link Confluence to the release, but I can't provide a breadcrumb in the release back to the specific Confluence page.

Having this would make it easier for developers, analysist and leads not to have to look up Confluence pages manually. Looking at their Jira issue, they could click on the version value in the intended version (or look that up manually in the releases area within Jira) then clearly see the linked Confluence page. This would save us time with manual hunting and pecking but more importantly help us avoid the temptation to revert back to spreadsheets making confluence pages more valuable.

It looks like adding links to Jira release versions is not possible within Jira Cloud. Is there a place where I can request this as a feature or upvote someone else's request? Rovo thinks I'm not the first one asking, but hard for it to point to the top-most requested one that's still open.

Hi @bkneebone

If I understand correctly, this is possible in Jira Cloud today. Each version's release page has a Related work section.

Open the release (click the fix version on any work item, or go to your project's Releases page and select the version). In Related work, select Add related work, pick a category, and paste the Confluence page URL. Anyone who clicks the version from a work item lands on that release page and sees the link.

There's also a Create release notes button on the release page. It generates a draft Confluence page from the version's work items and links it back in Related work automatically (requires Confluence on the same site).

Hi @bkneebone ,

I am Yuri, a co-founder of the Release management app.

We created the app to manage releases, and it will perfectly automate your use case. We have embedded functionality for expanding the release with properties and milestones, checking when they are achieved (delayed or not), tracking approval gates, and more.Screenshot 2026-08-26 at 13.00.02.png

The beauty of the app is that, with all this context, you can generate release notes in one click, upload them to Confluence, and automatically add a backlink in related work, as suggested in a previous comment.

Feel free to request a short demo session if it sounds relevant, but from my point of view, it is a perfect fit for your needs.

Thanks,

Yuri
