Add editable text or confluence doc image to dashbaord

We have a team dashboard and want to add a space where team members enter their planned PTO so it is visible to the whole team. I tried the rich text gadget but you have to drill down into 2 levels of edit/configure mode to edit the text. So I would either like to find a gadget that just allows text editing without being in edit mode, or possible a way to add a link to a confluence page where it actually displays the content of the page in the widget frame and will update/refresh if the document is updated. Thanks!

Maybe you can use Confluence databases for this?

A database seems like overkill to just be able to type some text on a widget on the dashboard. We are looking for something that acts more like a collaborative sticky note.
