Add component to issue at issue creation

Hi - is it possible to either, at issue creation:

• Add Component as a default field, or
• Pre-populate Component with a default value?

I have a board that filters based on Component. Currently, I have to move to the Issues screen and open each issue individually to add the component, so that I can view it on the board.

Yes! You can certainly make the Component field mandatory on the Issue Create screen. As a JIRA Admin, you can go to the Administration (Cog Wheel) --> Issues --> Field configurations --> Click on the Filed Configuration being used --> make sure the Component field is available and mark it 'Required'.

Please understand that there may be multiple Field Configuration Schemes associated with this Field Configuration that you made a change to and that the change will be reflected in all the places where this Field Configuration Scheme is being used.
