Add Cover Color Option in Board Settings → Action Board

In Board Settings → Action Board, could we add a new configuration option named Cover Color? Similar to the existing color settings, users would be able to define JQL rules to control and apply cover colors.

Hi Tahir,

This isn't available today — checked Board Settings and the options are Details, Working Days, Timeline, Columns, Swimlanes, Card colors, Card layout, and Quick filters. "Card colors" lets you color the whole card background by JQL, but there's nothing for the cover image area specifically.

Sounds like a genuine feature request rather than something with a workaround. Worth raising it on jira.atlassian.com so it can pick up votes, the product team does track suggestions there.

As Varun said, this is currently not supported, but it's an interesting nice-to-have feature. 🎨

There are a couple of color-related feature requests such as JRACLOUD-94125: Allow to change column colors on boards, like trello does but there's not one specifically for what you're looking for. 👀

You could add card cover images but I'm guessing that's not what you're looking for.

My suggestion would be to reach out to Atlassian Support (either you or your Jira admin) and explain your requirement. They can probably do another scan of JAC and if there's no existing feature request/suggestion, they could create a new one.
