We have Jira Premium with a hierarchy with 4 levels (Sub-task, Story, Epic and Initiative) where Epic is at L1. We also have some other issue types, currently, configured at the story issue type level (I.E. Risks), but really they are supposed to just "float" outside of the hierarchy.
When we Create Child Issue from an Epic, all of those other issue types, as well as Initiatives, show up, which is causing some people confusion and some people to "bug abuse". This is also a bit tedious to cleanse, as Epic Link is not on the screen of ex. Initiatives (naturally).
Is there any way to limit this?
Hello @jenseilertsen
I think this is the same topic as discussed in this June 2023 post:
The short answer then was no, it is not possible to limit the issue types that will display when you create a child issue directly within an Epic.
The original poster did not respond to say if they ever contacted Atlassian directly to see if a change request exists. You might want to ask your admins to contact Atlassian Support to find out if there is.
Yes, I had read that similar case, as well as the others linked in it and some others, hoping that the slight request and time differences could mean there was any hope, but I believe you are right.
I will contact Atlassian support and report back if I get a meaningful answer.
