Hi, well it's not really that its is complicated it's more the the whole process of finding my way to handle my issue that was complicated:
- First I created a multiple users picker field, that's fine, exactly what I wanted but team members say that does not work they can't add anyone
- ok well true, we've got "No matches found" in the user picker field, but that first message is not appropriate, because "matches are found" indeed but we don't have the "Browse users" permission to find them ... so I first got mistaken here
- took me some time to figure this out, the message should say or display a tooltip saying, "hey watch out maybe you need some more permissions to" browse users
- ok I found I need more permissions, so I go to the group my users belong to, I go to the project permissions, and try to "Grant permission" because that button seem to answer my need "grant more permissions to my group", and more precisely the Browse Users one.
- When clicking the Grant permission I have a form to add permission, great! exactly what I need but I can NOT find the "Browse users" permission I have been told about on the community
- When I click "Browse" I think I'm going to find "Browse users" but I only find a permission called "Browse projects" ...
- That's where I got lost, trying to find my way through the permissions scheme to finally understand after a while that:
- "Browse users" is a permission but it is a "global" permission and it is handled somewhere else,, here again I was not suggested something that says "Not finding the right permissions, maybe head to the global permissions" (with a link)
So well I finally got this sorted out but yes I find it a bit complicated because after all I just wanted to grant a permission to a group. Maybe JIRA should add more hints on the UI.
