I was able to create JIRA tickets however is there any way we can automate this process? Every time I get email on outlook it should create an issue on JIRA.
Hi, I was wondering whether there was any update available about APIs for extracting content from attached emails. I saw there have been previous questions in this thread asking the same but I couldn't see a response.
Hallo, I am an Org Admin and have added this add-on succesfully, and could use it from my email as described. However, none of our other (regular) Jira users are able to add it.
I have checked under our Jira site's Connected App settings, and the option for users to install "User Installed Apps" ("Certain apps can be installed by users on an Atlassian site at any time, by default") is not enabled.
Does this setting have to be enabled for users to be able to add the Add-on in Outlook?
We’re evaluating the Jira Cloud for Outlook (Official) add-in, but we see the last update was in 2019. That’s over 6 years ago, and in that time security standards, compliance frameworks, and enterprise requirements have changed dramatically.
This raises some red flags for us:
Is this add-in still secure to use in 2025?
Does Atlassian actually support it on current Outlook (desktop/web/mobile)?
Are there plans for an update or replacement, or is it effectively abandoned?
Given the lack of updates, it’s hard to justify deploying it in a corporate environment without an official security confirmation. Would love to hear from Atlassian or others in the community about whether this integration is still considered safe.
Regular updates. If it complies with your company rules I don't know. Can also be deployed directly with M365, but also have a Com-Addin for On Premise.
Thanks for mentioning Outlook Email for Jira / Microsoft 365 for Jira, @Patrick Neuner - Futureweb GmbH 🙌 I’m Britta from yasoon. We build the app Microsoft 365 for Jira, including an actively maintained Outlook email, calendar and Microsoft Teams integration. While we can’t comment on Atlassian’s add-in (it’s a legit free option), our focus is deeper Microsoft 365 integration with regular updates and new features.

This is an excellent app and very useful, but the app needs an update as it's not updated since 2019, please update it as per the current Atlassian cloud platform and compatible.
Hi, I am looking to understand how to control the Create view I see in Outlook. As it should be, the Create screen in Outlook should match the one in Jira, but it doesn't. The field order does not seem to be influenced by the Create screen field order.
Does anyone know how to match the Create screen in the Outlook form to the Create screen in Jira? Or how to open a support ticket related to this app?
@Itamar Ben Sinai All of would love that as well. Doesn't look like it's much of a priority to Atlassian at this time.
We had to make internal documentation to ignore all user-info-related fields (phone number, office, manager, etc.) during creation since Jira takes care of that with the ticket creation when the user is assigned. It's annoying, but you get used to it.
@Itamar Ben Sinai we created a KB article with the following info for those who are using the plugin during the creation of the issue:
Ignore any fields related to user (reporter) details. Although they will be empty in the plugin window, those should auto populate when the ticket is created. (Department, phone number fields, Office Location, job title, and others).
Do fill in the Issue type, Summary, Description, Category and Subcategory, Contacttype, Urgency, and Impact fields.
If you know who the assignee will be, fill in the Assignee and Assignment Group fields. otherwise, the ticket will go to the Unassigned queue.
Enter Request participants if any need to be added.
Click the Create button and click on the Close button.
