Simplifying Jira business boards

In an effort to bridge the gap between software and business spaces, we’re bringing more power to business boards, and simplifying the way you view the work, making it easier to find what you need.

What’s changing

1. Infinite scrollable board

The board no longer has a limit of 3000 work items – it’s now infinite.

2. Better filtering

You can now search and filter all fields, not just the ones loaded on the board – giving you more flexibility and visibility of the work.

3. Done work items remain

Done work items now remain on the board by default.  If you want to hide work that’s done, you can in View settings.

4. Simplified workflows

We’ve simplified the way you view workflows – letting you find, filter and focus on relevant work more easily.

You no longer switch between them on the board. Instead, you can either:

  • filter by work type

  • create a dedicated board for each workflow, which will be more easily accessed in your space navigation.

If you’re an admin and your board currently maps multiple workflows, you’ll need to reconfigure your board to select the default workflow.

To create a dedicated board for each workflow:

  1. In your space navigation, select Add to navigation (+), then Board and Add to navigation

  2. In the new board, filter by the work type the workflow is associated with

  3. Select Save (icon), then Save board

  4. To rename the new board to the name of the workflow, in your space navigation, hover over the new board tab, select More actions (icon), and then Rename

  5. On your board, select Column configuration
  6. Map your workflow statuses (each column needs to have at least one status) and select Save.

The work doesn’t stop here

We’re committed to improve boards, and have more plans to continue simplifying and harmonizing the experience across software and business spaces.

Hi Amy, great small improvements. I appreciate the removal of the 3k item limit, which is helpful for larger teams and edge cases. Aligning filtering with software project standards greatly enhances usability. I also like the dedicated boards for each workflow, as they offer a cleaner approach for maintaining process hygiene. Thanks for the update!

That sound really Exciting.

One more Question did you change anything on the Status mapping?
As right now if you create a new board and for example filter for all work assigned to you, you have all current states mapped to it category (todo, doing, done).
Now if new states are created they are automatically mapped in the "not assigned Column", not the respective category.
Now this makes sense for some usecases but if you want your personal Task board, this gives you a new homework every now and then.

Hi @Antal Vig Communardo

Thank you for your comment. Are you able to describe a bit more the friction you're encountering when creating statuses?

Currently, if you have customised the status columns of the board view through the new "Configure columns" modal, then a newly created status won't automatically show up on the board until the board's status column configuration is updated.

Let us know if we can help clarify anything.
