What is shown?
The Layout page in a Jira project’s settings area to set visibility and field order.
Visit: Project settings > Work types (expand sidebar link) > Layout
What can we learn?
After adding and removing fields on a project's create and edit/view screens, visit the Layout section to further refine field order and display.
Jira automatically places custom fields at the bottom of the context fields area. Click the ellipses icon or click and drag to move them to a different location. You can drag fields below the “Hide when empty” line if desired as well. (Not pictured.) To add additional fields drag them from the sidebar on the right to the left. To hide a field, drag it from the left to the right column as shown in the screenshot.
Both project admins and application admins can access this page to modify field order.
Tip: Any time you make changes, don’t forget to test them by viewing them as an end user would. Start the item creation process and make sure the fields display and function as expected. Also check an existing item in the Jira project.
This project admin page is only available in Cloud. In Data Center, field order is solely controlled by screens.
