As we continue to evolve Jira to better support your planning and reporting needs, we’re announcing the deprecation of the Overviews feature from navigation by the end of 2025. This change will allow us to focus on delivering more powerful, unified experiences through tools like Plans and Dashboards, as we invest in advanced solutions for planning and reporting.
We understand that change can be disruptive, especially if Overviews has been part of your workflow. Our priority is to make this transition as seamless as possible and to ensure you have access to even more capable alternatives for managing and visualising your work.

By end of this year |

The Overviews navigation item will no longer appear for users who have never created overviews, or have deleted all of their overviews.
|
Users who have at least one overview configured will continue to have access to Overviews until the end of this year, after which we’ll deprecate this feature. If this impacts you, we recommend reading the “Alternatives to Overviews” section to migrate to a suitable alternative.

This change will not affect any of your existing projects, issues, or data. |

Better alternatives: Jira Plans and Dashboards offer more powerful and flexible ways to plan, track, and report on work across projects.
Improved experience: Streamlining features makes it easier to find the right tool for your reporting needs.
Product focus: This change allows us to dedicate more resources to a unified reporting solution that lets you get from data to insight faster.
If you previously used Overviews or are looking for similar functionality, we recommend the following alternatives:
Jira Plans (formerly Advanced Roadmaps) provides advanced planning, visualization, and reporting capabilities across multiple projects and teams. With Jira Plans, you can:
Visualize work across business, software, and service projects
Plan and track progress with timelines and dependencies
Collaborate and report at scale
If you are on a Standard plan and would like access to Jira Plans, consider upgrading to Jira Premium or Enterprise for enhanced planning and reporting capabilities.
Jira Dashboards allow you to create custom views and reports using gadgets and filters. You can track issues, monitor progress, and visualize data across multiple projects.
Learn more about Dashboards here.
Use Jira’s built-in filters and boards to organize, track, and manage issues across projects. Filters can be saved and shared, and boards provide visual workflows for your teams.

Q: Will I lose any data as a result of this change?
A: No. The removal of Overviews from your navigation does not affect your projects, issues, or any other data.
Q: Why do some users in my organization still see Overviews?
A: Overviews is a user-specific feature, only those who currently have at least one overview configured will continue to see it in their navigation until it is fully removed for all users at the end of this year.
Q: Can I get Overviews back?
A: No. Overviews is being deprecated and will be removed for all users by the end of the year. We recommend using Jira Plans or Dashboards as alternatives.
