Is there a way using the new portfolio (roadmaps) to create a Strategic roadmap NOT connected to jira tickets.  My intention is to have a future, highly flexible roadmap for board review and another that is current, highly connected to actual activities.  We have upgraded to the professional version in order to access these features but all I can see are roadmaps that prompt me to connect to existing Jira boards.

Hi @Mary_Scimone

It's not specifically what it's designed for - Advanced Roadmaps is a reflection of work within Jira.

You could do this in theory - for example:

  1. Create a new Jira Project "Roadmap" - but add no Jira issues. Ensure this project has all the required hierarchical issue types within your Plan configuration.
  2. Create a new Plan, with the issue source being the "Roadmap" project.
  3. Add issues directly into the Plan - but don't commit these to Jira. This means they'll only live on the Plan and you can control the plan like a manual roadmap.

^ Of course if you create a new Jira project for the roadmap, you could create the issues in that project and just not relate to them to any actual ongoing delivery tracking.

An alternative if you have Confluence is to use the "Roadmap Planner" macro to create a basic, manual roadmap view.
