Setting Epic link colors on filter/seach screen

Is there a way to make the epic link colors set based on the epic status? right now it seems they are set at random..

No but you could consider implementing a Kanban board for this and use queries to set the card color. I realize that isn't exactly what you asked for but maybe it gets you closer.
