Recommendations for how to use JIRA for a hardware deployment project

Hi everyone,

Fairly new to Atlassian and trying to get up to speed on the vast features. I'm looking for advice or recommendations on how to setup JIRA and/or any add-ons for hardware & software deployment projects. I saw something called Bamboo that looked like it had some useful features, but no idea really. 

I'm not really sure which type of project I should create in JIRA to handle this. 

The project will have 5-6 phases with milestones and I'd really like to create some kind of visual display of the phases (a broad roadmap) with milestones and dates. It would be nice to be able to track assets and tasks, but we're mainly interested in the tasks that are needed to deploy the solution.

Also, is there a way to have more than 3 stacks in the Dashboard? I'd kinda prefer to see the tasks grouped by phase rather than just the To Do/Pending/Completed layout.
