Hi,

I have created a project and was using EPIC issue type for a certain categories of project activities. After a while we decided that some EPIC's must move to TASK issue type.

I just changed the type of the issue from EPIC to TASK and it went fine. But i see that now each TASK which were an EPIC continue to have an epic name field, showing the value that has been set at the creation of the EPIC.

Is there a way to clean up the epic name field from a TASK issue which has been initially created as an EPIC and then changed to TASK issue type ?

Thanks for your support.

@Benoit Demarets ,

Simply you can do one thing you can remove that field from the issue view screen so you wont be able to see it.

OR

You need to select all task using JQL and then bulk Edit those task and clear that field from all task

Hi @Benoit Demarets

I can understand the desire for cleanliness but do know that it won't hurt to have that field still populated. However, if you would like to clean that up:

  • Do a JQL search something like "issuetype = TASK AND "Epic Name" is NOT EMPTY"
  • Do a bulk change and set the new Epic Name to be empty
