How do I get the backlog to appear in the sidebar menu?

I created a new project which has the same settings as other projects that I've created, and the backlog is not present in the sidebar menu nor can I figure out a way to enable it.

Is it a Jira Software project? Did you create a board for the project? Backlog is a board feature, not a project feature.

Same thing is happening to me. For me, yes, it is a Jira Software project. I did create the board for the project.
