We are new to Jira and currently setting up the Service Desk and Core. It looks like i have access to Core, but when i click on the applications and select Jira Core it goes back to the Service Desk. How do i check the security to confirm i have access.
Are you an Admin? If yes when you try to create a project do you get to select Business Project or Jira Service desk(JSD) Project?
You should be able to see only these 2 options either Business or JSD project.
Not sure what you mean by check security to confirm I have access.
If you were granted access to both Jira Core and JSD you should be able to see both. If you were granted access to JSD only, it explains the reason you go back to JSD.
Any elaboration, or screenshots after hiding confidential information will be helpful.
Best.

So yes, i can seel Business Projects and Service Desk projects; therefore, based on your comments, I have access to both.
I have watched a multitude of YouTube videos on Jira and how to use them and felt very informed until I have been trying to configure for our own use. Add fields to screens, add Issue types to project templates, etc. I have fought my way through, but do not seem to be able to do anything globally and for example to a specific template when I create a project.
Do you have any recommendations on how to learn this program more efficiently or which videos I should be watching?
Thanks,
Suzie

Good morning Suzie @st3805
Thank you for accepting my answer!
I will recommend you to start with Atlassian Documentation
Jira Service Desk Documentation
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-desk-cloud/resources/
Jira Core Documentation
https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracorecloud/jira-core-cloud-documentation-765593058.html
Of course if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. First the tools may seem hard, but as you use them more you will see how easy and powerful they are.
Happy learning 💻
