This is a rant more than a legit qu so not expecting any answers ...
How does anyone find anything when (most?) of the documentation is still not updated with instructions that fit the new navigation?! And how is it that so much is still out-of-date after the new navigation has been in-place for over a year!
I don't need to get into the settings very often (thank God!) but when I do, I end bumbling around for several hours before I end up contacting support after the stupid AI just regurgitates the out-of-date documentation.
It is beyond frustrating to the point that I'm seriously looking at alternatives! Here's a radical thought - maybe Atlassian should have redeployed some of the people they fired in an effort to get the documentation up to date! Oh thats right - AI will do that! What a load of [insert here what ever you think appropriate]!
Latest thing I cannot find is where to create/modify form data connections. I've logged a support request but anybody here care to point me in the right direction?
Thanks for listening ...
HI @
AI is as good at what it knows, and yes there is difference in documentation based on Data Center and Cloud.
So on using AI you need to specify which you use.
Forms data data connections are located in Jira administration Work Item settings.
Thanks for the pointer Marc. I will take another look there.
I guess I was expecting that the AI might know and be able to tell me something about the current navigation and not just point me at the not updated cloud documentation that I’d already found. Clearly my expectations were too high.
But the primary point of my rant was how can such major navigation + terminology changes be released with so much of the documentation still not up to date.
The navigation and structure was already somewhat challenging before the change for basically part time admins like myself. The changes without updated docs have simply made my job much harder and added significantly to my frustration and dissatisfaction with the product.

Hi @ian
What can help is pressing the "dot" jey and start typing on what you need.
In your example "." and "data", would provide the Data connection option and you can select it to go there.

Hello @ian
With some things, I can completely agree, and with others, I cannot. AI is only as good as the prompt behind it. Besides that, AI often tends to agree with the user too easily, and that kind of sycophancy is one of the main reasons it gives wrong answers, because it does not judge things critically enough.
Here KB Article about Data Connections.

Thanks @Arkadiusz Wroblewski
Appreciate the response. I’ve been through most of those kb docs. Unless I’m fundamentally misunderstanding something (quite possible), most of them don’t match the navigation I’m seeing in my JSM environment. Which is why I reached out to support and posted here. I’m assuming that I’ll find what I’m looking for in this instance where Marc pointed.
Thanks again.
