Newbie here....working on deploying Jira Service Management on a Linux VM in Azure. I understand the jira.varfile and that it passes the parameters during install but if I'm passing the TCP protocols in the varfile, why do I need the connectors in the server.xml file? Are they doing different things? Thanks!

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The server.xml file tells your Tomcat service how to run the services.  The TCP protocols are only one facet of what a Tomcat needs to know to be able to run stuff.
