Updating attributes on existing objects in Insight using .CSV

Jonathan Nogueira

We are trying to update two attributes (Business Owner (user) and Building (text) on existing objects (Host from a Discovery) in Jira Insight.

We are using a .CSV exported from Jira and then added the values for the attributes we want to update.

When we execute the import, duplicate objects are being created instead of existing objects being updated.

We mapped on Key, Business Owner, and Building.

We have combed through the resources but could use some expertise from the community!

Thanks,

Jonathan

Hi @Jonathan Nogueira and welcome to the community!  In your object type mapping for the import configuration there's a place to set the identifier.  This will ensure duplicates are not getting created.  See the screenshot below:

Thank you that did the trick! Not sure how we missed that. We thought the check boxes were just to turn mapping on or off for particular fields so we were thinking they needed to all be on.

Thanks again!

My problem is that the import randomly selects one of the duplicates and updates the existing insight object's values.

1. I click import and it creates an object based on one of the duplicates.

2. I click imports and nothing happens

3. I click import again and suddenly it selects the other duplicate and updates the insight object with it.

It seems random, but happens all the time.

Anyone know if I can somehow prevent that? Maybe if I can make the import respect a certain order/sorting?
