Unable to configure services schema in Insight

Aman June 21, 2021

Hi,

In Jira Service Management - Insight, I am trying to configure a "Services" schema in order to add attributes to the object types, however I am not getting the option to do that. I have jira admin rights and I am able to edit/configure other schemas and their objects/attributes but not the "Services" schema.

Any idea why it is so and how to fix it?

Thanks

Hi @Aman  and welcome to the community,

The Services schema is actually a special one that you cannot edit like the others. It is tied in with the Service Registry on the JSM projects.

The official wording for that schema is

Integration with Jira Service Management Services
Sync service registry information into an Insight object schema so you can link your services to the underlying infrastructure and dependencies.

Thanks @Dirk Ronsmans

this is unfortunate. I was hoping to add some key pieces of information regarding the services so it can be used by agents while working a ticket, but that doesn't look so straightforward to do here. I'll try to find a workaround.

Indeed, I hope they expand on it a bit more.

The "Services" part is really integrated in to the OpsGenie integration and the Service Registry.

You could always build out your own CMDB schema and maybe through automation add that secondary CI to your issue? (if a specific service is used, set a different custom field with the CI that holds all your information)

It's a work around but can't really think of anything else at this moment.
