Setting up automation rule when a child issue has been added to a Parent ticket

Hello Team,

I am trying to setup an automation rule when a child issue has been added or linked to a Particular Parent it should send out an email to certain people.

I will explain with example:

I have an initiative which tracks a certain activity. This Initiative is linked with several epics that track the changes we are making. The automation rule I want to set up should be such that when a new epic is linked or added to that initiative it should trigger an email to selected people

I did try to setup the automation rule but I am sure I missing something in the trigger itself

Hi @srikanth_rao 

How are you "linking" the work items?

If you are using the built-in parent / child relationships with the Parent field, please use that instead for the trigger:

  • trigger: Field Value Changed, selecting Parent, possibly selecting "value added" for the change type
  • condition to check the Parent value
  • action: send email
