Question on Jira Assets Activity Log Coverage & Retention

Xijie Yi July 14, 2025

Hi,

Dose anyone know the following about the Activity › History tab in Jira Service Management Assets (Cloud):

Coverage: Does the log capture all object-level changes—manual edits in the UI, automation-rule updates and status or reference-link changes?

Retention: Is there any built-in limit on these history records, are object's activity log retained indefinitely unless an administrator deletes them manually? Thank you.

Hi @Xijie Yi

Based on coverage, the following is captured.

  • Manual edits
  • Automated edits

Global status or schema status name updates are not logged as an object activity. Status updates on an object are just considered an update (manual or automated).

Reference Link changes are also not logged, as this is based on an attribute an not an object.

Currently there is no audit logging for assets, but you can track this feature request; JSDCLOUD-10150

Based on retention, this will be kept until the object is removed/deleted.
