Jira Asset external import showing unknow user

Liu_ Ray October 2, 2025

According to the JIRA documentation, I created a token inside the schema and successfully imported items into the schema, however, all activities are showing "unknown user".

Since I created the token under my username why it's not tied to my account? Is there a way to show the user?

Hi @Liu_ Ray,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Based on your description I assume you created the token from within Assets, correct? If that is the case then what you are seeing is correct. The token created in assets is not linked to an account (even if you are the one that created the token) and that is why it shows up as unknown user.

Thanks for your reply. I did generate the token from the Asset as instructed.

Is there a way to show the user? Can I use username/password instead of token to get user show up?

No, the token that you create in Assets can currently not be linked to an account, and no, you cannot set the username/password for it. The token is only tied to the specified import and cannot be used anywhere else, the permissions are limited to only be able to create/update asset objects.
