JIRA External Import stuck in RUNNING state

I am running an automation script to perform a series of external imports, and sometimes the API will get stuck in the RUNNING state, and I need the state to be IDLE before I can start the import. 
Sometimes it gets stuck for 5+ minutes, with no DELETE or Cancel link available to cancel the job, Seems waiting is the only thing we can do? Is there a way to import into the same schema/Import source ID without waiting?
