We are reworking our SLA's in the company project and one request was to remove our "SLA Breach Reason" field from the Resolution screen.
The field was easily removed but the ticket still requires a Breach Reason to be filled. Is there a way to remove this as a requirement while still keeping the SLA's in their current state.

Based on your explanation, I would assume that you removed the field from the screen in the screen scheme used by this project but you may still have that field used as required. I would suggest:
Please note this field is a custom field and is not default from Jira.
