Import attachments to Jira project

Caslav Mitic May 23, 2025

Hi.

I try to import a issue with attachemnts to Jira project from CSV file.

No error during import, issue is created and I can see attachemt:

Att.png
But can't open .png:
AttNotLoad.png

Here is CSV file:

Issue Key,Summary,Attachment
PROJ-123,Add screenshot,"22/May/25 11:53 AM;mail@nnit.com;Screenshot.png;file://attachments/Screenshot.png"

Where file://attachments/Screenshot.png is on my local server, not on Jira server.

Should I place attachment to a spetial folder where Jira can see it??

Thank you
BR Caslav

Hi @Caslav Mitic ,

The issue is that Jira Cloud can reach your attachments. However, you can since its on your local server.

Here's the documentations to import attachments:

Hi Benjamin and thank you for qiuck responsse.
Sorry I was not clear, we have Jira Server and Data Center.

I founded out how to import attachment, but attachment is not linked to specifikc comment that attachment belongs to.
Insted, att is on top on issue.
How to import it and link it to specific comment??

I added att manually at the existing comment like this, and it looks rigth belon text (I erase text):
2025-05-28_15-06-07.png

But I can't found out to import it by csv to this comment durng import.

Any idea?
Thank you

Edited_01:
I founded out by writing this in comment after text:
"text.
!Screenshot.png|thumbnail!;"
And my attachment field is:
"23/May/25 1:35 PM;xxxx@xxxx.com;Screenshot.png;file://Folder/Screenshot.png"
