Dear all,
In order to proceed with development work,
we would like to make a “complete copy” from the Product environment to the Dev environment as much as possible.
■Background of the question
・We have received a request to add functionality to the currently operating Jira Service Management system.
• When starting development work,
since it seems that clones of instances or projects cannot be created in JSM,
we are attempting to build a development/test environment by “copying” the current production environment (instance).
• We understand that there are three methods for copying an instance (site).
① Creating a SandBox
② Obtain a backup of the instance and import it into another instance
③ Copy the instance to the development environment.
・We are considering adopting the method that is closest to a “complete copy,” but
all of the above methods state that there is “data that can be copied and data that cannot be copied,” and based on that information, we are unable to select a copy method.
■Questions
1. Which of the above methods is closest to a “complete copy”?
2. Are there any points to consider or precautions to take when selecting a copy method?
Please let me know in the comments.
Thank you in advance.
