How to scan MS Entra / Intune joined systems using system names

Hi there,

Scenario is that remote systems are connected to network using Dynamic VPN. Hence I am trying to use just the system name instead of the IP address.

I am trying to scan some remote systems (using system names instead of IP addresses) that are joined in MS Entra / Intune. Those systems are not domain joined but they are in Workgroup setup. 

In this resource, I cannot see a way to identify & configure scan settings.

Can you please advise me in how to configure & scan it just using the system names that are joined in MS Intune ?

welcome to community!

Entra ID / Intune does not provide network name resolution, so hostname-based network scans usually won’t work directly.

You should first make sure that you can successfully ping the target system from the machine where the discovery tool is installed.

Please also refer to the following documentation to ensure that the required ports are open and the necessary firewall rules are configured.

If you are not able to achieve the desired result using this approach, the only remaining option is to install the agent on each system that needs to be discovered
