How to get value of a Field

Hi All

How can I get a Field Value after issue has been Created to my own field e.g. If Issue is Created with Severity 1. How can I assign this 1 to my own custom defined field & then use it in other area e.g. Description.

Severity field can have 4 values e.g. 1, 2, 3 & 4 since there are Four types of Severity Levels

Hi @Support 

You can either do this with:

  • Jira automation OR
  • Post function within the workflow of that specific issue type

For Jira Automation

  • Create a new rule
  • Add as trigger: Issue Created
  • Add action: Edit Issue
  • Choose the field to which you want to copy the severity value
  • On the value placeholder click the three dots and choose "Copy value from current issue"
  • Choose the "Severity" field as the field from which you want to copy the value
  • Test the above rule and watch the edit log
