How to enable syntax highlighting in JQL searches?

I saw this: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-articles/Unlock-the-power-of-search-with-the-new-JQL-editor/ba-p/1750670 from a couple years ago and realized that this is not enabled in my instance.

Is there some global setting or project setting to enable this?

In JSM you have to go to the issue view in order to see the new JQL editor, you cannot use the View all issues search to see it. From your queue, click on the issue view icon up in the right hand corner and from here you should see the new editor.
